There is now a process underway in me that is leading me back to a sense of love, compassion, empathy and forgiveness directed toward myself. I’ve always been the kind of person who offers endless generosity, kindness and willingness to look past faults for others. When it comes to myself, I just haven’t been as kind or willing to hold myself in the same respect for some reason. This is now shifting full circle in my world, as I find myself not only holding others accountable in ways I’ve never been able to before, but also releasing the barrage of judgments I tend to throw at myself repeatedly. This shift has not necessarily been an easy one for me, as I’ve been very skilled at beating myself up.

It’s been very healing, and liberating to see that this pattern toward myself is shifting. I have to thank Ron for shining a bright light on the pattern a bit more so I could really understand how this was weakening and diminishing my existence in ways that needed to end. There’s no shame in having distortions, we all carry our own variation, but to find the courage to face them with an element of compassion, to face and hold ourselves in arms of loving compassion, rather than disdain… this is when you know you’re making progress. When you are no longer willing to look at yourself with anything but eyes of love and respect, you know you’re healing.
